About the Instructors


Joan McConnell, Studio Owner

Joan has been a teacher of Pilates and GYROTONIC® movement modalities since 1997. Her original certification consisted of 1,000 hours of training in Pilates, Polestar & the GYROTONIC® method through the Phoenix Center for Health and Excellence. She maintains the required continuing education courses and attends other specialized courses to enhance her teaching repertoire.

Joan is a certified golf conditioning specialist in advanced levels I and II and golf injury from Hole in One Pilates International ™ – Hole in One Fitness™. She strives to provide a comfortable, informative and positive experience for each golf fitness participant where individual attention is the rule, not the exception.


Regina Clark

As a certified Polestar™ Pilates and Barre Elevate instructor, Regina is dedicated to sharing the benefits of these exercise methods with her clients. She was first introduced to Pilates through her college’s dance program in 1996, and she began teaching in 2003. Regina continually seeks opportunities to enhance and expand her practice of movement techniques that integrate mind, body and spiritual well-being. Her goal is to teach fresh and energizing classes that are adaptable for a wide variety of needs and skill levels.

Maggie Burgess

Maggie Burgess

Maggie Burgess began her first career 37 years ago with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (The Exchange).  When Maggie retired as Senior Vice President of Sales, she knew she wanted to do something completely different – something enjoyable and also something that helped people.  Maggie began practicing yoga before she retired to relieve stress and to become better fit.  Once retired she quickly realized that yoga was the “something” that she wanted to do.  Maggie completed a 200-hour teacher certification with the Shanon Buffington School of Yoga in Carrollton, Texas.  Shanon’s focus in Hatha Yoga with a Tantric philosophy has given Maggie a rich, diverse platform in yoga with emphasis on Vinyasa Krama (using energetics and sequencing to obtain a specific goal).  She invites everyone to, “Please join me at the Springs Pilates and Yoga Studio for Hatha Yoga.  All levels are welcome.  I am looking forward to practicing and meeting the wonderful people of this community.”

Barbara Maile

Barbara is an intermediate yoga instructor, licensed massage therapist and nutritionist. She has been practicing yoga since 1997 and teaching for over six years.
